Pei Raymond Chen, Ph.D.

Overview

Dr. Chen practices all aspects of intellectual property (IP) law, with a focus on patent prosecution, opinions, due diligence, transactions, and licensing in the areas of computer networks, telecommunications, artificial intelligence, blockchain technology, autonomous vehicles, medical devices, and automotive engineering.

Dr. Chen has extensive experience in helping Chinese and multinational companies to develop and execute global IP strategies that meet their particular needs and business goals.  He has successfully obtained high-quality patent protections in the U.S. as well as other countries for many Chinese clients for their key technologies.  Dr. Chen also advises clients on IP risk management for new technologies, providing counseling, validity opinions, and freedom-to-operate analyses.

Prior to joining Leydig, Dr. Chen was the head of the IP department of a multinational Internet company based in China, where he built and managed an international IP team with a presence in Beijing and the Silicon Valley and developed an IP portfolio including over 3000 patents and 6000 trademarks globally.
