Kate Scolaro is an attorney who focuses her practice on trademark law, including trademark clearance, prosecution, enforcement, and disputes. She draws on her background in litigation and appellate practice to support clients in protecting and defending their brands.
Prior to transitioning to a trademark-focused practice, Ms. Scolaro represented businesses and financial services providers in complex litigation involving federal and state consumer protection laws. She also has experience handling a variety of appeals and brings that perspective to her trademark work, particularly in contested matters and enforcement strategy.
Before entering private practice, Ms. Scolaro served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable JoAnne Kloppenburg of the Wisconsin Court of Appeals. While in law school, she participated in Northwestern’s Federal Appellate Clinic, where she represented clients before the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Ninth and Eleventh Circuits. She was also President of the Moot Court Society, Vice President of the Intellectual Property Law Society, and an Executive Editor for the Northwestern Journal of Technology and Intellectual Property. Prior to law school, Ms. Scolaro received a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics and Political Science from the University of Florida.
