Examples of Clients Represented

We are extremely proud of the prominent clients the firm has been privileged to represent over its long history. The clients represented by our firm demonstrate our commitment to long-term relationships, the ability to effectively deal with all types of technologies, and our ability to handle matters for clients whose focus is ever-increasingly global.

Founded in 1893 in Rockford, Illinois, the firm is particularly proud of its representation for more than one hundred years of businesses (formerly part of the Barber-Colman Company) that are now a part of Invensys plc. We believe that this exemplifies our firm's commitment to partnering with our clients to establish mutually beneficial long-term relationships.

At one end of the technological spectrum, our firm is privileged to represent the prestigious National Institutes of Health in cutting edge technologies in the biotechnology field. The firm's representation of the NIH spans nearly twenty years, dating its origin back to a commitment by the NIH to substantially enhance its technology transfer by obtaining meaningful patent protection.

At the software and computer end of the technological spectrum, our relationship with Microsoft Corporation also spans more than a decade, and involves diverse matters including opinions and litigation.

We also represent clients who have unique requirements. These include internationally recognized institutions (e.g., Johns Hopkins University), where the uniqueness stems from the mission objective of the institution, which is often quite different from the objectives of our corporate clients.

Likewise, we are privileged to represent many clients with global concerns, who, for example, are based in Asia (e.g., Mitsubishi Electric Corporation and Astellas Pharma), Europe (e.g., Agfa Gevaert NV), and the Middle East (e.g., Teva Pharmaceuticals), as well as U.S. corporations (e.g., American Express Company, USG Corporation, Caterpillar, Alberto Culver, and Nike).
