Jeffrey Burgan Elected To Board of Trustees At Rose-Hulman

CHICAGO, November 11, 2008 – Leydig, Voit & Mayer, Ltd. is pleased to announce that Jeffrey B. Burgan, a Member in the Chicago office, has been elected to serve on the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology Board of Trustees. This position, effective October 4, 2008, is a four-year term.

Mr. Burgan concentrates his practice in patent litigation and client counseling as well as interferences to resolve first to invent disputes at the U.S. Patent Office. He has experience in both jury and bench trials and is a member of the Trial Bar of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. His patent litigation and interference experience has encompassed such varied technological fields as medical products and pharmaceutical and biotechnology based products, oil industry equipment and chemicals, inks and paints, and paper industry machinery. Other experience includes obtaining and enforcing copyrights and trademarks and representing authors, performers and record producers.

A graduate of Loyola University of New Orleans Law School, Mr. Burgan received his undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in 1977. He is admitted to the bar in both Louisiana and Illinois. Prior to attending law school, he spent several years in engineering and management assignments with Texaco, Inc.

Mr. Burgan served for several years on the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology Alumni Advisory Board and was the 2004-2005 President of the Rose-Hulman Alumni Association. Last year, the Institute presented to him the Rose-Hulman Honor Alumni Award. He has been active in several associations in the legal community including serving as a member of the Board of Directors and most recently as Treasurer of the Intellectual Property Law Association of Chicago.
