Two New Associates For Leydig, Voit & Mayer
October 6, 2008CHICAGO, October 6, 2008 – Leydig, Voit & Mayer Ltd., a full-service intellectual property law firm, is pleased to announce that Emer L. Simic and Christopher K. Leach have joined the firm as associates in its Chicago office, effective immediately.
Ms. Simic will focus her practice in patent prosecution and litigation, with particular emphasis on the litigation of pharmaceutical patents. Originally from Ireland, she obtained a Barrister-at-Law degree from the Honorable Society of Kings Inns in Dublin prior to moving to the United States. Before joining Leydig, Voit & Mayer, she worked as a judicial extern for Judge Bill Taylor, Circuit Court of Cook County, in Chicago. She was also employed as a law clerk at The Healy Law Firm in Chicago, Illinois.
Ms. Simic worked as a law clerk for Leydig, Voit & Mayer in 2007 while earning her law degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law. She received a Master’s of Philosophy in 2002 and a B.A. in Natural Sciences in 2001 from the University of Cambridge in England.
Mr. Leach is involved in the practice of intellectual property with particular emphasis in patent prosecution and litigation in the chemical arts. Prior to joining Leydig, Voit & Mayer, he worked as a process engineer, research chemist, project engineer and manufacturing manager for nine years at Brown & Williamson Tobacco Corporation in Macon, Georgia.
A recent graduate from the University of Illinois College of Law, Mr. Leach received his J.D., cum laude. In 1994, he received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering, with honors, from Washington University in St. Louis and a B.A. in Chemistry from Saint Louis University. He is a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and the American Chemical Society.
