Leydig, Voit & Mayer Welcomes Two Technical Advisors
June 20, 2008CHICAGO, June 20, 2008 – Leydig, Voit & Mayer, Ltd., a Chicago-based intellectual property law firm, welcomes Jonathan M. Spenner and Alan J. Hickman as technical advisors, effective immediately.
Dr. Spenner specializes in the fields of biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and chemistry, and has managed international patent portfolios for both large pharmaceutical companies and small biotechnology companies. He has experience in the drafting and prosecution of U.S. and international patent applications and has performed freedom-to-operate, patentability, validity, and transactional due diligence analyses. Prior to joining Leydig, Voit & Mayer, Dr. Spenner worked at prominent law firms in New York City.
Dr. Spenner's scientific background is multidisciplinary, exemplified by his doctoral dissertation research in biomacromolecular thermodynamics and structure. He received his B.A. in biological sciences, cum laude, from Northwestern University in 1999 and a Ph.D. in molecular biophysics from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 2004. He is currently scheduled to complete his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law in May 2009.
Mr. Hickman possesses a wide range of experience gained from his prior employment at Caterpillar, Inc. As a patent agent, he drafted and prosecuted numerous patent applications in all product technologies, and successfully defended Caterpillar's patent rights in oppositions held in the European Patent Office. He is named as an inventor on four U.S. patents.
Both Dr. Spenner and Mr. Hickman are registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office as patent agents.
