Frances M. Jagla
Counsel
Ms. Jagla is involved in all aspects of trademark, copyright, and unfair competition counseling and litigation. She has substantial U.S. and international experience in name development, clearance filing, registration, maintenance and enforcement of trademarks and copyrights for Fortune 100 companies. She possesses in-depth knowledge of trademark related acquisitions, divestitures, licensing, and Internet domain name matters.
Ms. Jagla has spent the majority of her career as in-house counsel in the pharmaceutical, healthcare and software industries. She led the trademark practice at Abbott Laboratories where she was responsible for the trademark strategies behind many blockbuster healthcare products including HUMIRA, KALETRA, NORVIR and BIAXIN and was instrumental in the trademark development for the spin-off of the medical device business into HOSPIRA. She has also served as the Senior Lead Attorney for trademarks at Microsoft Corporation during its development and launch of Windows Vista and Microsoft Office 2007. She was the founding member of the Law Office of Frances M. Jagla, PLLC, where she spent her time working with pharmaceutical companies who were encountering difficulties with FDA and EMEA approval of their new brands, USAN and INN designations.
Ms. Jagla is a frequent lecturer on a variety of trademark issues including international clearance and filing strategies and healthcare related topics.
