Charles S. Cohen
Counsel
Mr. Cohen practices law in the field of intellectual property law with a particular emphasis on legal opinions, preparation and prosecution of patent applications in the U.S. and foreign countries, technology-focused transactions and due diligence as well as formulating patent strategies and managing patent portfolios. He combines his deep knowledge of intellectual property, technology and business to provide practical, business-focused advice.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Cohen was employed by a global manufacturer of electrical, electronic and fiber optic components and was involved with a wide variety of domestic and international intellectual property issues including developing and implementing strategies and procedures regarding worldwide intellectual property protection, portfolio management, licensing, standards committees, and litigation with a significant focus on Asia Pacific markets. He held various positions within the organization’s Intellectual Property department including that of Chief Intellectual Property Counsel. In addition, he spent four years on the business side of the organization within the company’s New Ventures and Acquisitions department evaluating, structuring and negotiating various technology-focused transactions including acquisitions, divestitures, investments, licenses and joint ventures.
